A Homebirth to Remember - The Birth of Josephine

8.16.20 -

Josephine was brought into this world by her mama peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by love and support.

Lindsey had been having prodromal labor for about a week, which had been frustrating for her, she was so ready to meet her baby, but trusted her body and knew it would be soon.

It was a Saturday evening around 8:15pm when Lindsey texted me to let me know she thought it was for real this time, she had been experiencing waves for about 6 hrs and things felt like they were picking up.

We touched based again around 11:30pm and decided it was time for me to head over...this was the real deal, baby was coming!

I arrived just before midnight, and found Lindsey laboring calmly in her room, really embracing each tightening, and doing so with a smile on her face.

As things got more intense, she decided it was time to get into the birth tub, right around 12:30am. Once she was in the water, I sense her body had the opportunity to relax and fully make it's way into transition. Lindsey was incredible, as her body took over she focused on her baby, knowing she was so close to meeting her.

At 1:22am, Josephine was born in the water, delivered by her mom, caught by her dad. Created in love, delivered in love.

7.11lb 19.75in of perfection.

My favorite part of every birth is what comes after delivery....

The quiet calm, the intimate discovery of one another, seeing first hand the immediate bond being created between this precious new life and the ones who made her.

It is incredible thing to watch a mother bring her child into this world. Every birth I am invited to capture is truly special, and such an honor.

I am blessed.

Welcome to the world, Josephine.
